JASMINE is a wideband multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) pulse compression channel sounder for measuring the spatial and temporal characteristics of the radiowave channel.

It is built on an industry standard modular compact (cPCI) form factor using fast fibre channel data storage and retrieval, combining superior performance hardware with advanced digital signal processing. The operating frequency bands are 2.2 - 2.6GHz, and 5.2 - 5.6GHz, with optional support for multiple frequency bands

The JASMINE sounder, with flexible configuration options and comprehensive data analysis tools, provides an unrivalled solution for both radio communication research and system planning.

Optional configurations

Jasmine is of a modular design and can be tailored to meet individual customer requirements. Options include:

  • Other frequency bands.
  • Wider tuning ranges.
  • Wider analogue bandwidths.
  • Alterative sounding waveforms.
  • Greater transmit powers.
  • Antennas with linear or circular polarisation.
  • A selection of antenna arrays for transmit and receive, e.g. 8-element linear, 8-element octagonal, 64-element square configurations with linear or dual linear polarisation. Supplied with passive elements to prevent edge effects and a full set of calibration data.
  • Advanced post-processing software for super-resolution analysis of time-of-arrival and direction-of-arrive signal paths. This includes QinetiQ's high-performance, maximum entropy IMP algorithm (similar to SAGE).
